Durante la edición 94 de los Premios Oscar, Guillermo del Toro, director y guionista mexicano, se llevó el perseguido reconocimiento, por una de las películas más queridas del pasado 2022, Pinocho, como la Mejor Película de Animación.
Para recibir la estatuilla, del Toro subió al escenario dio un breve mensaje en favor de la animación y reconoció el apoyo y la inspiración que su familia le ha brindado a lo largo de su carrera.
“La animación es cine, la animación es un género y está lista para llegar al siguiente nivel, por favor, manténganla en la conversación”pidió a la industria. Además dedicó su premio a la guionista Kim Morgan, es decir, su esposa a quien se refirió como “el amor de mi vida”, a sus hijos, a su madre (quien falleció el pasado mes de agosto y que se fue sin poder ver Pinocho, película que ella buscó durante 15 años que Del Toro realizara) y a su padre.
“Ya no están en este mundo, pero están aquí conmigo (en mi corazón). Soy su hijo y los amo”, fue como el jalisciense culminó su intervención en la ceremonia.
